  1. Beautiful! It’s a very solid piece of architecture, isn’t it?

    • yes it is but not the most Castle like more like a stately home can imagine it defending itself – more like cocktail’s on the lawn. To be fare I didn’t go in so don’t know what it look’s like inside – but I will when the weather is not do good, just now it is out and about :D

      • Very sensible, you have to make the most of the weather in this country. I’d like to visit the castle myself, some time, but I agree it doesn’t look as castle-like as some do.

  2. Now I really want to come to Scotland. We have a good friend who is Scottish, he and his wife, our Belgian friends, are currently spending a few weeks there now. The scenery is quite lovely, but I hear it rains a lot and is cold. I hate being cold anymore. What are the temperatures like in summer/fall?

    • you cannot predict the weather – we were 24c last week but are 16c now – for the best light late Autumn or Spring would be my choice – no midges (Jun to Sep) in the West Coast. The rain can be a bit of a myth – all I can say is broken weather is best as it generate extra-ordinary light (seriously moody) – I am afraid though it is a bit of a lottery – If I had to recommend a period it would be early spring – good light and a dusting of snow on the mountain’s. Good clothing will sort you out and if that doesn’t then Whisky will….
