I’m not certain what I feel with this, Scott. I feel it should be foreboding, and yet it isn’t. Perhaps it’s because the fog is ‘lifting’ and there is a slight light beginning to cast itself upon the water and mountains. I love the simplicity of colour, and its overall ‘balance’… You do have a great ‘eye’…
Do you mind Carolyn! I was in full flow reading your last blog post. I love that after looking through lots of imagery – that I come across your blog and have to read (what is that all about) – no it is not foreboding it was spectacular and I I have been unable to do the sky and foreground justice – but the slither of mind blowing landscape was worth the effort the car went through to reach this point some 1200ft up Applecross
Absolutely agree, Scott..!
The title had me a little confused… I think it’s wonderfully calm and, as I mentioned, ‘balanced’.
I’m so glad that you ‘got the shot’…. What a man with a camera will do to ‘get his shot’… haha..
Maybe, Scott – after looking at lots of imagery, a little bit of text is refreshing to the soul…
Breathtaking! Not entirely sure how I feel about the fog bank but I certainly don’t find it dark or sinister in any way, just simply – breathtaking. As a viewer I desperately want to see what is behind the fog and wished it would hurry up and clear. It is like Mother Nature is giving us a glimpse of what she can do, just a little glimpse to keep us hungry for more
I love the fact that as a viewer you want to see beyond the fog I was just loving the drama as I came over Applecross and the light revealed itself – it caught my breath and I ran around like a mad thing trying to catch it before it blew through.
This made me feel I was looking at it through a bird hide. I’ve never been to Applecross but it’s on my wish list. Your photo is chock full of atmosphere.

Wow! Almost an abstract. Stunning as it is, but would have preferred if mother nature had lifted that fog bank just a fraction.
cannot disagree with the low cloud base but loved the light.
That’s a lovely layered panoramic landscape. Like the atmospheric perspective and the certain air of foreboding lent by the ominous curtain of cloud.
Thanks Graham, there seems to be some debate regarding whether the cloud is foreboding or not (read on) it was very dramatic though.

…that I would have loved to watch. You would probably have made a lovely object for a portrait photographer….
