Driving towards Inverness this weekend my eyes were drawn by the first dusting of snow on the mountain’s of Easter Ross. I couldn’t resist the temptation of capturing autumn colours contrasted against the snowline. Was even lucky enough to get some good sunshine kindly dance across the peak of Ben Wyvis, Easter Ross. This a long lens landscape taken from the dam at Loch Glascarnoch about 25 miles NW of Inverness.
I’m not a huge fan of snow, but I can’t deny that it looks beautiful on the landscape like this. It makes me think of a stollen, nicely dusted with icing sugar. Yum!
I love stollen, equally I love the move towards winter, the white snow in sharp contrast to the autumnal colour. I wonder is it what results from snow (slips trips n falls) or the lack of colour in general?
I agree that the move towards winter is very lovely, but what I dislike is the continued cold and snow for months on end, it loses its novelty value, for me. I think I’ve been jaded by that winter we had a couple of years ago. In Perthshire we had more or less constant snow for 5 months and I got fed up of it!
I wholeheartedly understand that sentiment – I love the snow when it remains on the hills

not sure myself but was happy with this when I took it. On many occasions I think I have something and turns out that it is flat or uninspiring but just sometime what I see is what I get –
Breathtaking, Scott! You’re made a relatively stark landscape into something with a haunting beauty. I don’t think you need to worry about living up to the benchmark you set with the rainbow shots.
Thank you Gunta but we both know this subject is so subjective one man’s art is another’s mockery – I am proud of what I am producing currently and think I am still learning by the bucket load so – lets see where we are in a year

a beautiful thing to say Carolyn – but tbh I have seen some photography this past weekend which is beyond WoW which in fact has inspired me to try newer approaches. I think it is the difference between part time and full time tbh.
If you believe that then I can’t wait to see what your work will eventually become. I am not a photographer, Scott; however I know a good perspective and balance when I see it. That I see in your work… Ever onwards, ever upwards, as they say…!
