First taste of Winter – Ben Wyvis   17 comments

Driving towards Inverness this weekend my eyes were drawn by the first dusting of snow on the mountain’s of Easter Ross. I couldn’t resist the temptation of capturing autumn colours contrasted against the snowline. Was even lucky enough to get some good sunshine kindly dance across the peak of Ben Wyvis, Easter Ross. This a long lens landscape taken from the dam at Loch Glascarnoch about 25 miles NW of Inverness.

  1. I’m not a huge fan of snow, but I can’t deny that it looks beautiful on the landscape like this. It makes me think of a stollen, nicely dusted with icing sugar. Yum! :-)

  2. That is absolutely outstanding and amazing Scott! What a view!
I have a friend that is a TV weather reporter and he would have a stroke over this! :D

  3. Wow. Another stunning landscape. How do you make taking such amazing photos look so easy?!!

    • not sure myself but was happy with this when I took it. On many occasions I think I have something and turns out that it is flat or uninspiring but just sometime what I see is what I get – :D

  4. Breathtaking, Scott! You’re made a relatively stark landscape into something with a haunting beauty. I don’t think you need to worry about living up to the benchmark you set with the rainbow shots.

    • Thank you Gunta but we both know this subject is so subjective one man’s art is another’s mockery – I am proud of what I am producing currently and think I am still learning by the bucket load so – lets see where we are in a year :D

  5. Once again, Scott, this is an incredible image… You should be so proud; your work is magical… Who else can take a landscape and make it sing as you do…! Well done to you…

    • a beautiful thing to say Carolyn – but tbh I have seen some photography this past weekend which is beyond WoW which in fact has inspired me to try newer approaches. I think it is the difference between part time and full time tbh.

      • If you believe that then I can’t wait to see what your work will eventually become. I am not a photographer, Scott; however I know a good perspective and balance when I see it. That I see in your work… Ever onwards, ever upwards, as they say…!

  6. Gorgeous…what a pairing of colors and elements…vivid Fall and Winter in the same frame…wonderful.

  7. Super landscape. Just how I like them, natural-looking colours and moody weather.
